NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (September 17, 2009) – The job requires practically living at the gym. The reward is helping to slim America’s obese population. It’s a career with stability and growth.
Personal trainers, one of the nation’s fastest-growing professions according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and American Council on Exercise, help clients perform exercise and modify their lifestyles and health.
Today, MedVance Institute, a leading healthcare career training provider, announced the addition of the personal training program at its Nashville campus, 3354 Perimeter Hill Drive, Suite 105. Classes are enrolling now to start in November.
The new eight-and-a-half month program will teach students to work one-on-one with clients either in a gym or in the client’s home, assessing their level of physical fitness and improving their exercise techniques. Students also will learn to keep records of their clients’ exercise sessions and change their exercise and eating habits.
The culmination of the program includes attending a week-long boot camp in Las Vegas led by such renowned bodybuilders as Jay Cutler, Jen Hendershott, Tommy Boyer-Kendrick and Beth Horn, among others. Graduates take the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) CPT certification as part of the boot camp.
With nearly one in three Americans overweight, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and American Council on Exercise predicted the field of fitness workers, including personal trainers, will increase 27 percent from 2006-2016 while offering solid earning potential.
The job growth is attributed to an increasing number of people spending more time and money on fitness, and more businesses recognizing the advantages of fitness programs for their employees. Also, aging baby boomers are increasingly hiring personal trainers to stay healthy, physically fit, and independent. In addition, parents worried about child obesity and reduction of physical education in schools are signing their kids up for fitness programs.
“Among all career choices available to individuals today, healthcare-related jobs such as those in personal fitness have emerged as the closest of all to being recession-proof and offering great career opportunities, with considerable income potential,” said MedVance Institute Chairman,
MedVance Institute has begun recruiting students for its personal training program, with classes beginning in November. Some of the 14-course program’s classes will begin every month, allowing students to start when it is most convenient and not have to wait as long as a full year to begin.
MedVance Institute, a national leader in healthcare career training, is a fast growing, privately held medical career training organization offering a complete range of diploma and degree-granting healthcare programs at campuses in Florida, Texas, Louisiana and Tennessee, with an Alabama campus to open in 4th Quarter 2009.
